FAQS ON THIS SITE

IT AIN'T REAL FOLKS

All websites need Frequently Asked Questions to save unnecessary band width. I suspect as I get flamed, this section will grow.

Before we even start, the blown up puffer fish is a rubber fish. In January 2000 Tony Eggleston and I were on our way to our annual trip to War Torn Honduras. We stopped in New Orleans and visited a couple of shops and the Aquarium. There I got the rubber highly dangerous Pacific Puffer. I placed it in many locations while diving at COCO View that winter. It held it's pose perfectly.

Here it is with Tony.

Before I left, I gave the fish to one of the fun loving divemasters. He had it on the dock fully full of water. Lynn spotted him and screamed, "You are killing the puffer!!!!!". He threw it to her and she freaked out. After the emotions calmed down, everyone laughed and relaxed --- even Lynn had a good laugh. I left the puffer there for the perpetual amusement of the dive masters.

Why all the interest in rebreathers?

I have always been interested in diving technology and building my own stuff.. I think rebreathers are really cool. Fun to design and build....fun to dive. My interest in rebreathers was rekindled by Dr. Bob.

What kind of camera do you use?

I have used a variety of cameras over the years. I went digital three years ago focusing on Sony cameras. My first was a Sony Mavica that saved images on a floppy disk. Now I usually use a cybershot ds 70 with 3.3 megapixils. I usually make my own housings. You can see how on the dive projects pages. Here are the construction details.I have just added a Sony P-9 with the marine pack. It is the first commercial housing I have used in years.

Why is the site named Atlimp? That is a stupid name and hard to remember

I have always been found hanging around old wrecks and rocks. I don't swim much faster than a limpet. Besides, I just paid to extend the domain Atlimp so it was a great place to dump this garbage. As for the comment about typing, learn to use your rodent.

How much lead do you use to get under the water?

I don't use lead.

I either use gold or spent plutonium.

I almost always use a wide angle lens attachment when taking either stills or video. Sometimes I use a dome port but not often since I use a .42 aux lens. When the still or video camera is in wide angle mode, a dome port is not necessary. The wide angle makes almost everything in focus.
