SCUBA CAMP FEBRUARY 2004

BRENDA AND FRIEND

Leaving the bitter cold and snow of North Carolina Tony, Yves, Brenda and I returned to Scuba Camp (CoCo View, Roatan, Honduras) in the beginning of February 2004. We were accompanied by Bill, Jim, Pat, and Laura who decided to find out what the big deal about CoCo View was.

Bill and Pat came in on Saturday while the rest of us arrived on Sunday. The first thing Jim and Laura noticed was that the ones of us going to Scuba Camp didn't end up standing in those long lines. They were delighted...

There is a nervous last check to assure that the luggage is all there and ready for the final leg of the trip to the little island of CoCo View.

One of the "little pleasures" of going to Roatan is the excitement and wonder if your luggage will arrive with you. On one trip, our luggage got there but we didn't..go figure.

My mind is on the diving ahead and the short swim to the Prince Albert...just off the reef. Gone were the concerns in Miami with the missing scrubber material and the problems with TSA.

Tony inspects a jawfish lair.

Some new color on the reef.

Yves tries out his new underwater digital camera. This was his first try at underwater photography.

Here is one of his first successful shots. After a few false tries, he was getting images that made me jealous.

We were fortunate to visit 40 foot point three times on this trip. This is my favorite dive site on Roatan. Here Tony feeds some fish with some of his Koi food he just happened to bring along.

Forty foot point has larger fish and is a prime fish feeding spot.

Just fish and people soup.

The yellowtails are checking me out. Any food bub?

Introducing Bill and Pat who ham for the camera. They met diving in Australia.

And Jim and Laura who just started diving and have been more places than many divers with years of experience.

Of course all the big stuff at 40 foot point are not fish. Barrel sponges you could get into.

Big grouper and little cleaner fish.

The second dive of the morning on the Prince Albert

With some of there more interesting citizens.

An open and shut case of a tunicate. Found it on the edge of the reef on the way back in to have lunch.

Yves gets his picture of a Queen Angel. Damned overachiever.

Dr. Bill goes after diving like he does a research project...keeping lots of records...

While the others enjoy the moment.
